Port U14’s Feile Weekend

Our u14’s had a wonderful 3 day adventure over the weekend competing in the All Ireland Feile held in Connacht. Port opened their account with a fine performance to beat local team Ballinasloe convincingly Friday evening, unfortunately this was followed by a loss to eventual Division 2 winners Four Master’s of Donegal the full time score was 2-8 to  1-1.

Saturdays action started with a game against our wonderful hosts St. Michaels, and in a hard fought game our hosts prevailed on a score of 3-7 to 2-4. This result meant we would enter the Shield quarter finals, where we would meet Mountbellew Moylough , a gutsy performance saw Port run out 2-4 to 1-5 winners. This meant the team would travel to the Connacht GAA centre of Excellence to compete on the final day of the Feile Festival.

Erin’s Isle of Dublin provided the opposition in the semi final, a strong Erin’s Isle ran out winners 2-4 to 1-2 and who again went on to win the Shield final.

The club are proud of the lads and the effort put in to every game over the weekend some fantastic football was played, but more importantly friends were made, new experiences shared, and brilliant memories were made.

Special thanks to all the families and supporters who made the trip to encourage and support the lads. St Michaels GAA club our hosts, deserve a special mention for the hospitality  they shared with our club.

Our gratitude goes to our mentors, Dermot, Mick, John & Damien for preparing the team and looking after them over the last couple of months, and in particular on both the Laois and National Feile weekends, the mentors and Juvenile Committee of the club left no stone  un-turned in preparation for the Feile competition.

Finally we would like to express our gratitude to our kind sponsors below, for their  support of the team. Your support ensured a memorable weekend for each boy who represented our County, our Club, our Town, their Families and themselves in an exemplary  and sporting manner on and off the field. Well done lads and thanks for the memories.
